War Storm by Victoria Aveyard
5.0
War Storm was a huge storm of different POV’s, drama, and political manipulation. This was by far my favorite book of the series. Aveyard plays up the drama and offers more insight into the lives, feelings, and ambitions of many characters. I thoroughly enjoyed how the book skipped around so we could get the big picture of what was going on.
Mare’s character development was off the walls, I had been disappointed in how she was portrayed in the other books but this final one really made me sympathize for her. I was able to understand her perspective and really care about what happened to her as a whole. I think she really grew as a person and became infinitely less selfish as time went on. She learned a lot of lessons and most importantly learned to lean on others. This book made her vulnerable and relatable. The ending also made me extremely proud of her since she chose herself and her own peace.
I really loved the scheming and drama in this book as well, it was very easy to read and I found myself flying through the pages as everyone was scheming and attempting to manipulate the situation. Aveyard was careful about not making Mare or the Scarlet Guard invincible, they lost a couple of battles and took it on the chin. In the end, it was an amazing wrap up that left me quite satisfied.
