This is the best Jumbie book yet!!! TJGR is the third book in this series, following THE JUMBIES and RISE OF THE JUMBIES. They are all three delightful and slightly spooky fantasy tales based on Caribbean folktales and classic “Jumbie” stories. Corinne, our heroine, has dealt with jumbies on land in book one and jumbies in the sea in book two - what’s next? jumbies in the sky, of course! The stakes in this book felt higher than the other two, as much of what happens is all consequences from actions Corinne has taken in the past (I LOVE it when a plan goes wrong!) We get some emotional moments between Corinne and her papa that deepen their relationship on the page and make it feel so real. Every character gets a moment to shine in this book, and it is the perfect conclusion to this series! I’ll definitely be putting it into the hands of my students when it comes out on September 3!
