Cold Like Snow by Sita Bethel

Cold Like Snow wasn't a bad book, but in the end I think it really wasn't for me. The premise definitely intrigued me but in reading it I found it fell a bit flat. I tend to prefer a fair bit of story in my romance, some sort of conflict. And despite two of the three protagonists being dead I found surprisingly little of that in this book. In the end to me it read more like a very extensive erotic fantasy about ghosts than a romance. And for me that wasn't quite enough.

The negative: For me the relationship portion moved too fast. There was very little time between Rene realizing he had ghosts to him being a part of their relationship. There wasn't a lot of buildup or tension. The relationship portion also went almost too smoothly, and I never thought I'd say this of something with well written sex, but there really was almost too much of it. I felt the bulk of the text was spent on it and it left time and space for very little else. I also didn't feel I ever really got to know Marcus and Bastion, at least not very thoroughly. For my personal taste I'd have liked a bit more interesting story of their history, but that is purely my own preferences.

That is not to say it was entirely without merit, however.
The positive: The writing was good. I didn't struggle at all to read it and it took very little time for me to have finished reading it. I genuinely liked the characters and found a lot of positivity and warmth in their relationships with each other. The sex was steamy (as things will be when you mix hot and cold) even if I found there was almost too much of it.

Overall this was an interesting premise and I wish that I'd found the book itself more enjoyable. However if you just want to read some sexy ghosts this might be exactly the thing for you.

I received a free ARC through NetGalley in exchange for a review.
