Kingdom of Villains by Ella Fields
4.0
Rating:4.5/5
Spice: 5/5
Tropes: Enemies to lovers, fated mates, possessive mc, hurt/comfort
Fia, a Seelie princess, is the type of girl who always seems to find herself doing the opposite of what was expected of her. She frees an Unseelie prince, thinking she was doing the right thing. Turns out this was one mistake she couldn’t get away with, and now has to pay the price. What she doesn’t know is that prince, the one she could not get to vanish from her thoughts, was actually a monster. A monster who isn’t afraid to tear down the world to get what he wants.
I can tell you honestly that this has been the best book I’ve read in awhile. Of course with my luck that book so happens to be the only standalone I’ve picked up in a year! This book was nearly 400 pages and in those pages I found myself completely sucked in, chewed up, and spit back out. Yes it did indeed destroy me. Made my expectations that much higher.
The Author did a great job at giving the reader enough information to really understand what characters were feeling. Especially our two main characters, Fia and Colvin. You felt their hurt, frustration, and love. I swear I found myself falling for both of them! You understood their struggles and watched them fix it all together. It felt like a true enemies to lovers book. It didn’t feel rushed at all. I even really enjoyed the side characters and their stories (of course Persy is my favorite). All of them were very interesting and unique in their own ways.
The world was intriguing. You were able to get a grasp on how different both the Seelie and the Unseelie lands were to one another. Both were beautiful to read about and try to picture in my mind. I loved everything about the dragons and that lore. I will always love a story on dragons. I also think the limited amount of power some fae was nice to see too. Usually everyone is super overpowered but thankfully not in this story.
I am definitely going to be picking up another book my Ella Fields, if only to try and chase that high this book gave me. Will 100% be mourning this book for the next couple of days.
