The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead

5.0

I rarely write extensive reviews (or none at all) but this series deserves one. I waited until I finished the last book to share my thoughts because one thing I noticed shortly after I began reading Bloodlines was how cohesive Richelle managed to keep the story. I'm rating it five stars as a whole.

I loved VA, but this spin-off, somehow, managed to be so much better. I was completely enraptured by the plot and these characters I've grown to love so much. Sydney is one of the most brilliant characters I have ever read of; there were so many details embedded into her persona, it was brilliant. Consistency was key in this series, even if the story (I feel) was quite rushed towards the end. There were some things that were not adressed, but even so, the ones that were, Mead managed to explain them in the most cohesive way possible. I love how I found details from the previous book, on the next one. If you paid attention to the details, maybe there wasn't as much as an element of surprise as you'd expect from a series like this, but the closure of the story payed off, imo.

I've read requests for another spin-off of this, but I don't think that'd be smart. I feel like everything that had to be covered, was, in a beautiful, simple way. It was an hell of a good journey, and this just became one of my favorite series of all time.
