I really liked this book. I think I like the horror/fantasy mixes more than I ever thought I would which is nice to learn.
Anyway, this book really got me. I loved the characters and learning about how they grew up together and learned to love each other through that process. I loved how the story unfolded slowly and gave me just enough to answer some questions but not all of them. I fell in love with their hopes to get away from this terrible farm and the way that they cared for each other.
The plot itself was also fascinating and mysterious. I couldn't get a handle on anything until it was already happening and I love it when a book surprised me like that.
All that being said, I do think a couple of things could have been stated either more firmly or a little earlier. For example, getting ready for the climax of the book, the characters had to wait for a eclipse to start before doing what they needed to do I guess, but that was never actually stated so I was so confused why they were waiting around and actually like accidentally fell asleep for a little bit before moving the plot along. I can understand stalling because you don't want to go through with it out of worry for what will happen, but to actually fall asleep rather than doing what needs to be done? It threw me off a little bit and then I realized that they actually had to wait for this explode to start before they could move on. It would have been nice to know that before the waiting began.
I also felt so sad that Peter didn't get a good ending. I felt like this was just as much his story as it was Wyatt and James', but he didn't get to actually live at the end which is all he wanted. I know it's a horror book and it doesn't have to have a happy ending for everyone, but for him to be the only one out of the three that didn't get to live while he was the one tortured the most is so sad.

Overall a really good book and I'm glad I got this one in a book box.
