Bubba, The Cowboy Prince by James Warhola, Helen Ketteman

5.0

As a reader, I can clearly see the plot elements of Cinderella within this fractured fairy tale. These include: the wicked step siblings and parent, unjust treatment of the good central character, the ball, magical transformation, recognition, and a happily ever after. In this story all of these are in some way turned on it head by changing genders, species, and even the setting and tone by placing it in Texas ranching country. The values can be interpreted a little different with the above changes. The way the book is put together makes it immersive by not solely drawing upon the source material but by creating a new tale.
