Bessie Bibbs' Ginormous Fibs by Chris Jones, Claire Bell

3.0

Bessie Bibbs Ginormous Fibs is a short children’s story about a monster who is always telling fibs and getting herself into a mess. I really loved the foreword from the author and have searched his website and social medias for further books and information. The map and the illustrations were also really great and very eye catching, certain pictures in the book had my little one in stitches!

The only negative for me as a parent was the message of turning the other cheek if someone needed help, I feel this could have been worded better as the target audience are quite easily influenced, however the moral of the story to not tell fibs really hit home, as after we had finished the book my little one said that “telling fibs is naughty and it makes a lot of mess”

This was a great little book for me to read to my son, with him trying to sound out a few of the words on each page, as the target audience for this book is 3 – 7, my son is at the lower end of this so I read most of the book to him which we both enjoyed anyway, as it gave him opportunity to ask me 101 questions and for some words definitions. I liked the fact that this book was able to help my son compare the book to real life, as the minute the computers were mentioned/pictured he compared that to me and his daddy (as we work on computers allll the time apparently)

Final word from my son: I liked her (Bessie) she was crazy and always making a mess, I love this book, I give it 10 stars and I want to read it 10 more times!
