**Olivetti** - Allie Millington - **8/10**
A middle grade novel told from the perspective of an 80 year old typewriter & a traumatized kid who loves words. They are brought together when one day the boy’s mom runs away from home and the typewriter decides to speak up (type up?) and help.
There are some shortcuts in the plot and some middle grade tropes I’ve read too many times, but it was such a heartfelt and raw book that those get a pass from me.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt like it realistically addressed some very dark and difficult topics, while still maintaining a hopeful ending (that’s one trope I DO like with middle grade - keeping that hopeful ending)
