I love Becky Chambers. She is an incredibly talented writer and I will read anything she writes. That being said, this third installment of the Wayfarer series didn’t pack the punch I was looking for. The book follows the daily lives of multiple characters at different stages of life that are living in the Fleet, a group of spaceships established by Earthen humans when the planet became unlivable. The book is a reflection about motivations that cause someone to seek, leave, stay, and/or return home.
I enjoyed the underlying themes of the story, but there wasn’t enough happening in terms of plot or character development to keep me engaged. I’m glad I read this, but definitely prefer the first two books in the series.
