Book 3 in the series - this might be my favourite overall. Even though you'll read something and think "surely a civilian and their cat can't do that", and there is still a talking cat, this one felt the most grounded in reality and certainly the most serious overall (whilst still feeling lighter and more cosy at times, to retain the spirit of the first book). Felt like the characters moved with purpose, and it wasn't just "then we went here, then we went here" etc. Also as someone from Manchester, I did get a kick out of the place names, as silly as that is.
The Jeremy storyline didn't really add anything - I was expecting it to link back to the main story but it never did, which was disappointing. It was just fluff.
Overall, I enjoyed the mystery and the ending of this one felt the most earned. Look forward to the release of the next one!
