Hunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton

4.0

I don’t have as much to say about this book.

Compared to the first book, this was book was definitely darker than I had anticipated. While I still like Zade as a character, he scared me honestly lmao. The weird CNC thing going on was weird to me. The lines were so blurry to me, it’s something I struggle with as it is when it comes to reading darker books, but someone of the scenes where he was playing around with Adelin made me feel a little gross. It wasn’t so bad that I had to put the book down, but there were definitely some sexual scenes where I had to skip a page or two.

As far as the plot goes, the book me had me on the edge of my seat. I was hooked to see what would be going on with Adeline and I was excited af that Sybil was back in the storyline. I liked the friends that were going along for the ride and that were helping out. The biggest thing that I loved was that there wasn’t any betrayal’s between these relationship. I mean, once Zade and Adeline were reunited, they had their weird little dance going on, but they never outright betrayed each other. There was no lying, no hiding agenda’s or anything like that, and I really loved that. I hate when everything out of the relationships is full of chaos and then they add even more chaos in the relationships. Even though she wasn’t fully onboard for the Zade train, I liked that she acknowledged she could still trust him regardless of her feelings on him.

We won’t talk about what happens at the beginning of the book. It was so heavy and I wasn’t expecting to read all of those details when it came to the rape scenes. It was also because of those scenes that made me feel more icky about the whole CNC between Zade and Adeline.

I think I’d have to read the books a second time now that I know what to expect from the books. I think I’d have a different experience if I wasn’t so anxious throughout the whole book.
