Exit Strategy by Martha Wells

This is by far my favorite installment in the series so far and—even if you haven’t enjoyed it up to this point (and I admire your persistence if that’s the case)—it’s totally worth it to get here. I feel like this book is what the second book really should have been. In this adventure, Murderbot reunites with the original group of humans that he discovered in the first book. I really enjoyed getting to see those characters again and see Murderbot develop his relationship with them.

I feel like Murderbot grew by leaps and bounds in developing his self-awareness and realizing his own preferences and desires. And his typical brand of sarcasm is ever-present and even more hilarious in this installment. This novel wrapped up the series in such a satisfying way that, while I didn’t especially love the middle two novels, I can say that the series as a whole is amazing. I definitely recommend reading this—and all the others building up to it. Such a fun, hilarious, and heartwarming story!
