Infinity Son by Adam Silvera
4.0

I know reading is subjective, but I don't understand all of the one-star reviews. This book was not a phenomenal, mind-breaking classic, but it was far from horrible or even bad. My rating is closer to a 3.75, but I'll give it a 4 because Silvera's writing is always fun, and because Emil is precisely the kind of protagonist I needed as a kid, but never had.

So if you're on the fence I'd suggest reading it. It really isn't bad. Silvera obviously loved working on this, and it's his first attempt at fantasy. I'm not blown away, but I am looking forward to seeing what he does with the next book, given the ending. If anything, the book could have used another 50 pages or so to flesh out some scenes and character development.

The world-building, though scant, is fun, and he does put some new twists on old tropes. The characters are well-rounded for the most part. Idk if it's not your cup of tea, then that's fine. But I think the book is much better than some of these one-star reviewers are giving it.
