The heroine was likeable, the hero was everything but. Turner put Miranda through it all in this book and made so many awful decisions - none of which were redeemed. He was commandeering and manipulative at the beginning and he hadn't changed by the end. I felt awful for Miranda the whole way through and she deserved so much better. Julia Quinn has written unlikeable characters before, but not like this, and never without properly redeeming them. This was really disappointing and I should have DNFed. The only reason I'm giving this 2 stars is because of how much I actually liked Miranda's character, she just shouldn't have settled for Turner.
