I Married A Lizardman by Regine Abel
4.0

While I adored the concept, setting and plot of this book sadly the romance was lacking development.

Olix and Susan are rather adorable together, stumbling through their introductions as neither know much of the other species. They have some lovely moments of getting to know each other, learning the others culture, interests and opinions.

However the majority of their scenes were just steam, which is plenty of fun and heated with figuring out what they like together. They spend a large amount of time seperate while his hunting and she is farming. I feel like Susan got to know her mother in law and sister a lot more then she ever did him.

The world building is stunning with the setting of Olix home planet, the various groups and their way of life were fascinating. I loved how Susan managed to find her place among them, while improving things for the future. Her bargaining at the market, charming and using her knowledge to advantage was perfect.

Also the cooking, growing various fruit and veg using her skills from home along with technology instead of hands. Being able to show another way to support them, without causing harm and accepting their feelings based on history.

Appreciated how much understanding and growth on both sides, as she is able to help them and all work together to create a better future. The realizations of what has been happening and being able to start repairs on their land.

Also wasn't a big fan of the time skips especially in last few chapters, just felt too much telling what happened and not actually shown.

Overall the story itself was enjoyable, with interesting ideas and a beautiful setting. I just wish had been more romance/relationship development as felt lacking compared to the rest of story.

Still a fun read with a happy ending! I'm interested in reading more of the series 💕
