Hannibal Rising by Thomas Harris
5.0

A prequel of sorts to the "Hannibal" books, detailing his trauma on the collapsing Eastern Front of WW II in Lithuania as a young boy, his later childhood in postwar France, and his hunt for the monsters that killed and ate his sister, with his own slide towards becoming a cannibal monster in the process . . . quite a shift in tone and setting from the previous three books, and I could understand if some fans didn't like this one, but I enjoyed it thoroughly!
