Schweblin’s writing style is right up my alley, but most of the stories in this collection didn’t hit for me.
I’d say 6/7 stories were three stars, but the longest story in the collection — Breath from the Depths — was a four star read. For that one story, Schweblin manages to create such an unbearable and real POV character. Every frustrating and terrible thing the protagonist does left me screaming, and yet I truly understood where she was coming from.
I’m definitely going to check out more of the author’s work!
