Honestly, I don't know what to say other than I am in awe. Such a simple yet complex story and characters compressed perfectly into so little pages. It surpassed my expectations by far after hearing so many good things about this short story. It is incredibly hard to fit a well-crafted story, characters, world, etc. In just 30 pages but Alix does it wonderfully, becoming a master with this one.

The play with the pronouns and shifting perspectives, the cyclical storytelling, the slow but sorrowful realisations of the protagonist, the ending that makes justice to this fantastic story. I just fell deeply in love with this story and I think it would work so well in a short stories college classroom as a material for discussion and learning. Well done, Alix E. Harrow, I will definitely check out your other works after this delectable artwork.
