The Secret of Magic by Deborah Johnson
4.0

I gave this 4 stars with really wanting to give 3 and 3/4...then I looked and that is just about what it is averaging.

Living in Mississippi, this book intrigued me, and I am so glad I read it. It haunts you with it's truth/realistic nature in the most needed ways, and it also has mesmerizing details and descriptions that make it impossible to put down (after about page 200). The descriptions kept me reading while the story started slow, but half way through it, I was hooked. She uses a few cliches here and there in her writing, which I usually get annoyed by, but the storyline saved me from being annoyed. It has snippets of a book within the book, and it references important civil rights activists. I definitely recommend it. I think I'll be thinking about his one for a while.
