Only missing thing from this is wanting to know that Ah Lai got some karmic punishment.
This short story is about Su Bai and how she fulfilled her wish to be with her mentor/person she loves forever until death. It's a full circle story.Because of misunderstandings created by Ah Lai (Princess of Zhao), Su Bai assumed that Yue Chi was going to trade her (last descendent of the Su family in the Great Yue) for a valuable Gu that the Prime Minister (who also killed her family). With it, he can create the Jue Sha Gu. So after disappearing one night, Yue Chi has been searching for Su Bai and meets with the Master of Destiny who weaved Su Bai's dream 3 years ago when she was a mentee.
To find her, they go into the dream she weaved and with it turned it into her last memories to see where she went. Turns out, because of the misunderstanding she instead goes to pond with ten thousand Gu to sacrifice herself and become the Jue Sha Gu since that's what Yue Chi wanted.
We see Ah Lai take credit and tells Yue Chi that she found a formidable soldier who went down instead and therefore the Jue Sha Gu that has been with him the whole time, was actually Su Bai.
Such angst and cruel destiny but so good. Both Yue Chi and Su Bai knew that she loves him and would die for him and that's exactly what happened. And Yue Chi did promise he'd give her a home and that home is him as promised until the end.
