Even for black and white art, parts of this were very gory. There were also a lot of panels that were just Very Serious Looks from the men.
This was my first time reading Mountains of Madness and I found myself pretty engrossed. The danger of the expedition is very clear, as well as the strength of the curiosity and awe of the characters.
The character of Lake got on my nerves. So far it seems like his ego is the biggest and most real threat in the story.
I plan to read volume 2.
