The Dyatlov Pass Mystery by Cédric Mayen

dark mysterious tense fast-paced

3.0

This was a fascinating read and offered many great theories as to what happened in the Dyatlov Pass in 1959. The story hints at many different explanations in an artful and intriguing way without confirming any of them (since no one knows what did actually happen) and I was drawn into the tale from page one. The only thing that I didn't like were the hints of sexism, such as the men being driven to kill each other over a girl (despite the fact no human could have caused the injuries reported) and Lyudmila slowing the group down because her period was a few days early (despite that not being even remotely true in the slightest). But asides from that, the artwork was stunning and the author really managed to capture the tense atmosphere between the investigating police officers and the military.
