Ohhhhh my god.... book version of eraserhead in that in the future, Nash will tell her kids she wrote a book about pregnancy and motherhood and they'll find out its THIS.

I dont know what to say about this that summarises how insane this book was to read-- it was incredibly captivating in an uncomfortable way. Some people pointed out how there was a lot of focus on things that went ultimately nowhere (like, for example, the bee stings) but I chose to interpret those things as psychosis related hallucinations which can be auditory, sensory, visual and of a scent or taste nature.

I hated every single character in this book, and felt an inkling of sadness for each of them at different points for different reasons but no one is redeemable, no one is likable. Besides the cat-- which becomes a literary device to show how cold and calculating Dee-Dee can be and is in a way that scares and unsettles people deeply.

Desperate to be wanted, loved, needed, cared for. Dee-Dee had fucking nothing and I felt so angry I was sick. She's not innocent but her plight was agonising to read through
