How Rory Thorne Destroyed the Multiverse by K. Eason

3.0

This book has me completely torn in two. The beginning was so promising, and I genuinely thought we might have a pretty interesting story on our hands here. Turns out, we did, but it was also rather predictable. I did really enjoy it, and enjoyed the feminist aspect of the princess going out on a limb to save everyone, but I could have done with a better ending really. It all felt rather rushed in the last 20%, and the ending didn’t really satisfy me. Maybe that’s because this is going to be a chronicles, but also I’m not piqued enough to pick up the second book.
I will say, I really enjoyed the writing style. It is one of those styles of sci-fi writing that requires your full attention, or you’re not understanding a word of it. Genuinely, there’s some parts I had to re-read because I knew I didn’t pay enough attention.
Overall, an alright book, but predictable.
