Fable by Adrienne Young
4.0

Knowing my relationship with YA books, I now tend to go into them without many expectations. Especially after how disappointed I had been with Sky in the Deep, another book by Adrienne Young. And I’m glad I did for this one because Fable was really good.

The thing I didn’t liked in Sky in the Deep was how much space the romance was taking, so much that we barely see the Vikings inspired elements. In Fable, the romance is much less present and obvious, leaving more room for all the interesting pirate parts.

And we have a lot of them. The atmosphere was simply perfect, I was transported on the deck of the Marigold and discovered a lot of interesting things about how pirate ships were taken care of. The fact that I was in a pirate mood probably helped a lot too.

While the plot was not the most original, it’s execution and the world building were enough to make it deeply enjoyable. The pacing is pretty fast, and we are not bored for a second.

I loved how complex the relationship between each character is, especially regarding Fable and her father. And other characters that I will not talk about because, you know, spoilers. But their relationship raised a lot of interesting questions about sacrificing the things we love to support a loved one.

Overall, Fable was a quick enjoyable read that take you through many dangerous adventures and is perfect to transport you in the lawless world of the pirates!
