This book is a very “mushy, gooshy” love story. I think if you’re a “words of affirmation” person, you’ll like this. The MMC simply isn’t my type because he’s the attractive, damaged, insecure type. I prefer more of a silent, alpha-male character. I could overlook the fact that the MMC isn’t my type of book boyfriend, but the plot simply feels underdeveloped and rushed. The events of the book seem like they’re more for shock value instead of furthering the plot and the book, overall, is just too cringey at times.
For example, Archer isn’t an idiot, but somehow was unaware that going to a strip club and cheating isn’t right (even though Marcus did the same thing and he knew how it impacted his mom). Archer’s fight with Travis seemed random and ill-timed, Archer leaving, Archer’s “death” and then coma, and Victoria’s hatred and the guy showing up at the deli - all sparsely developed.
Overall, the real plot of the book is Archer and Bree’s love for one another. Everything else is simply a sub-plot. I wish this book had balanced the romantic aspects with the other events like the Knockemout series did to round-out the story.
