This book is utterly charming. It’s broken down into two parts: the slice of life love story of Neesha and Gabby making up the main tale, intertwined with breakaways to the manga as Neesha and Gabby find and read each book. The manga asides are kept to the perfect length, adding to the charm of the plot without taking away from the teens’ story.

Neesha and Gabby are unique and well developed, each fierce in their rights. Their relationship evolves slowly from strangers to best friends to girlfriends.  I adored how each girl learned to not just support the other, but also to allow themselves to let their own guard down and lean on the other too. There were some heavy topics that came up at points, but everything was handled with care and consideration.

This book takes you through a gambit of emotions, but leaves you feeling hopeful and happy. I highly recommend this one.
