City of Bones by Martha Wells

4.25

This was a really fascinating journey. Definitely slow, but it felt very purposeful and I enjoyed getting to know the various characters and see them interact. Love Khat and his whole vibe, and Elen was great (everyone was pretty great). I didn't come into this knowing anything other than that Martha Wells wrote it, and clearly that was enough for me.
The relics and politics and academia and magic of this was all very fucking interesting and I had a really great time getting to just sink into this world and the lore.
