Listen - I love the hero-chases-heroine trope. Like, I LOVE it. I didn’t think there was a limit to how many times the hero could profess his love, be rejected by the heroine and I would still love it - but this book proved me there is!

This woman is torn between two men: one who’s controlling, abusive and practically an alcoholic - let’s call him Chad - and another who’s super hot, rich, kind, and loves her - our hero. Oh, the dilemma...

She continues to get back together with her abusive boyfriend - without any convincing motivation - and sleeps with him even after she and the hero professes their love for each other. She’s going ahead with wedding plans with Chad all because of a misunderstanding with the hero!

Like okay, you thought the hero was cheating - but that doesn’t mean you have to marry yucky Chad! Like what?

Then this continues: the hero begs her to choose him, tells her he loves her, they make out, and then she rejects him. And goes back to Chad. Super frustrating!

I was at my breaking point at the end of the book - but I finished it. Will I read the next book? Yes. But, for once, I hope the hero makes the heroine grovel a bit before smushing. Maybe more than a little bit.

Honestly, if this was real life I would tell him to drop her ass...
