Cat Lady by Dawn O'Porter

5.0

Well!!! I’m not really sure where to start with my review - I was totally not expecting what I got from this book!
Cat Lady gave me all the feels!

Mia is wife to Tristan and stepmother to Oliver, and she puts up with Tristan’s ex-wife hanging around the house more than she should. She holds down a career as a MD for a jewellery company but meantime she feels she’s a whole other person trying to emerge from the shackles she perceives that life and society wrap around her.
She attends a pet bereavement group despite her cat being alive and well unbeknownst to the rest of the group who assume her cat is dead. Mia fiercely loves her cat Pigeon, more than anyone and anything.
Haunted by a childhood dominated by an emotionally abusive father which leads her to almost seeking a devastating solution until she is “saved” by an unexpected saviour.

Mia was vulnerable on many levels but equally strong on others. She made disastrous decisions, does some crazily bizarre things and could be excruciatingly annoying but I took a real shine to her.

With themes of emotional abuse, dysfunctional marital relationships, sex (sheesh
