The Unconsoled by Kazuo Ishiguro
1.0

Having loved other Ishiguro books I really wanted to enjoy The Unconsoled, but it just wasn’t for me. The meandering, dreamlike narrative is an interesting exercise in escapism - and at times reminded me of my own frustrating, stressful dreams and nightmares - but to me seemed ultimately directionless and without any satisfying conclusion. A book filled with exasperating characters that raises too many questions that it never satisfactorily addresses and goes on for far, far too long.
