The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks
3.0

During a storm, Denise and her son Kyle get into a serious car crash. Taylor McAden, a volunteer firefighter in the town, helps rescue Denise and find her missing son who has learning disabilities. As their relationship grows, Denise has to confront the fears of sharing the journey of raising Kyle while Taylor has to confront the fears of his past.

This was so average. I really think Kyle, Denise, and Taylor are special but never felt completely invested in any part of the story. The plot seemed very routine and I wished for some more action. I did like Spark's foray into some slight mystery. Would have loved if the mystery of Kyle lasted a little bit longer actually! Cute story, loved the real romance (almost too real that it was boring haha), but needed a bit more. At least both main characters have personal growth before they grow together. Higher expectations for Nicholas Sparks oopsies.
