Feminisms: A Global History by Lucy Delap

3.0

Lucy Delap's historical analysis of feminist movements around the world is highly educating and entertaining at the same time. Her approach on intersectional perspectives was especially well done when she talks about the early 20th century, where feminist movements often were not sensitive towards issues linked to class and race. I would have wished to read more about how this transpires until today.

Sadly, the oppression of trans women is mentioned only in the margins. Even then the wording was rather off (calling cis women "born-women"). To me it seemed like she just tried to squeeze a few words about trans people in, I didn't feel like she was genuinely interested in mentioning the struggles of them at all.

Overall an okay introduction to the historical development of different feminisms.
