The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

4.0

4.5 stars.

Monique Grant is a journalist writing puff pieces and figuring out what her life looks like after a bad breakup.

Then she meets the famous elderly starlet Evelyn Hugo. Or rather, Evelyn Hugo demands her presence.

What follows is an incredible story of romance, glitz, glamour, heartbreak, and darkness. I found myself absolutely speechless at parts, fully in tears at others. It was one of the best books I’ve read in a long long time. The bisexual visibility was enough to make me weep on its own, but paired with the rest of the reality of LGBTQ+ life in the 50s-80s was truly staggering and humbling.

Beautiful. Elegant. Powerful. Wonderful.
