The Love of My Next Life by Brit Benson
5.0

“She’ll be absolute fire when we fuck. She’ll turn me to ashes and I’ll gladly burn.”

Well, one book in and I’m officially a Brit Benson fan! I don’t read a lot of coming of age/new adult romance, but I’ve heard wonderful things about Brit Benson’s writing. I am hooked on her brand of angsty duet romance! The Love of My Next Life is a heart-wrenching young love story full of snarky humor, wit, and deeply emotional drama. I will caution you to check the trigger warnings as there is some dark and heavy content. I loved Brit’s storytelling, I was engaged every second. I had a substantial love/hate reaction to most of the characters; they are relatable, authentic, and heartachingly complex. If you like an infuriating yet lovable bad boy, oof you’re going to love the hotter than hot Macon Davis! I can’t wait to listen to the turbulent conclusion of this duet.

J.F. Harding is a new favorite narrator of mine. I’ve listened to a range of J.F. characters, but brooding, misunderstood, adrift Macon may be my favorite new character of his. J.F.’s raw, angst-filled, heartfelt performance was incredible. Lidia Dornet is a new-to-me narrator and I loved her performance as Lennon. The heartache, the dramatic twists and turns, and the forbidden spice make The Love of My Next Life a marvelous start to Macon & Lennon’s love story. The Love of My Next Life was my first Brit Benson audiobook, and absolutely not my last!
