Hello, Universe
by Erin Entrada Kelly
A book for those who feel they are invisible. Virgil doesn't fit in anywhere he thinks. His family is an exclamation mark family, while he is quiet and reserved. He has to go to the resource room to work with a teacher one on one where he observed Valencia, a hearing impaired girl who is confident but has trouble understanding what people are talking about. Virgil ends up having to face his fears and try to overcome his shyness by finally communicating with those around him. It is a subtle search for ones voice and making ones self heard.
