This book was wonderful. It's hard to come by media that covers alcoholism respectfully and truthfully, but this one did very well I think. I liked reading from the start of Emma (our main character) being one year sober. I think it was great for this author to throw us in right when she's still struggling and it's still hard, but everyone thinks she's fine because she's one year sober! so she must be ok! Or people are still too careful around her and make her feel weird. I also like that she had this idea that she's a year sober, so now she won't have problems, she can live a normal life, but she forgets that life still happens, just now she doesn't have her original coping mechanism. So now her struggles didn't disappear, they just look very different and she has to learn how to navigate, but sober. And she has to stay sober. I just really loved this book, it was moving. and it was also quite funny at times too!
