River's End by Leanne Davis

4.0

Erin Poletti's mom has just died and she is left with nowhere to go. She finds her brother, Chase, working at Rydell River Ranch and hopes he can help her out. Unfortunately Chase is not very welcoming and neither are most of the Rydell brothers, especially the oldest brother Jack.

Erin soon begins a relationship with Joey Rydell, the youngest Rydell brother, who is closest to her brother Chase. When something happens that tests the trust the Erin has with the Rydell brothers, Erin must earn their trust back. When secrets are revealed about Erin, Jack sees another side of Erin and realizes she has had a much tougher life than he could have imagined.

Will Erin be able to break down Jack's walls and make him believe that love can be possible a second time?

This was a great book with quite a few twists and turns that kept me wondering what was going to happen next!

Erin was a great character who had some pretty big weaknesses but she was also so caring and really needing a helping hand to get back on her feet again. I really felt bad for what happened between her and Joey and it was probably due in part to Chase and how he treated and viewed Erin. I understood completely why Erin packed up and left her home when her mom died.

I thought it was so awesome and funny where Erin begins working and Jack's reaction to it. It really made me laugh!

It was obvious that Jack had some major pain in his life that led him to be so hard and as we begin to read more we discover why he is the way he is and he has not had it easy either. He has had to raise his brothers and then his own sons and life was not always kind for him but he had the ranch.

The relationship between Jack and Erin was a very complicated one with the lack of trust at the beginning and then the gradual earning of trust that developed between the two. The two had lots of chemistry but you were never sure if it was more of a hate on Jack's end.

I was completely shocked at how much of a jerk Chase was. I can't believe the stuff he did to both the Rydell's and to Erin. I seriously hope karma catches up with him at some point in this series!

This is such a great beginning and I really hope we get more of Erin and Jack as there is so uch more to discover!
