The Iron Night by Julie Kagawa

adventurous emotional sad tense medium-paced

I hated this one more than the others. There’s nothing worse than a book entirely devoted to one man’s pining. Was Ash’s goal worthy? Sure. Was it nauseating to read? Yes. Was it terribly entertaining? No. But now I can read book 5 without confusion! Also…I’ve finally put words to 2 huge gripes since reading book 1.

1. Megan is a 16 and then 17 year old minor…and there is a MASSIVE age gap between Megan and Ash and even bigger gap between Megan and Puck. We can maybe get past that if we squint hard enough.

2. Puck admits on more than one occasion that he has loved Megan since she was a little child and waited for her to grow up as he had been her guardian in the shadows almost since her birth. This is beyond creepy, extremely predatory, and paints Puck as a pedophile. I can’t bring myself to like him despite the author’s best attempts to paint him in a good light. 🤮
