The Mountains Sing by Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai
5.0
[New Review — 11 April 2024]
LOVELY BOOK! Cried soooo much that you could even call it sobbing. Like I literally had to go to the bathroom and dry my tears with a cold towel.
The Mountain Sings is in the format of a story told by Hương’s grandma, and it later pans back to her own story in the present! (If I remember correctly.) The importance of family, hope, and growth are prominent themes, and it is just beautiful despite the horrors in this book; bitter sweet. VERY bitter.
