I loved The Bodyguard by Katherine Center, so I was really expecting to love this too, but it just didn't hit with me. For the first 100 pages, the romance is basically non-existent (and that's basically a third of the book, so that's quite a significant amount), which makes the pacing of the book a bit off. The romance was okay, but because of the entire concept of the romance being a large miscommunication, I was impatient for Sadie to finally figure out that "Joe" was actually Oliver this whole time ; I found the reading experience of this miscommunication frustrating rather than funny. The third act break-up was frustrating, but I absolutely loved their reunion and resolution (it was super cute!). I was not a big fan of Sadie's best friend Sue; she was such a flake. I absolutely ate up all of the family drama, though I wish the conclusion could have had a little more resolution between Sadie and her father. I also wish that we got more from Dr. Nicole in the second half of the book (though it was done well when she was mentioned in the resolution scene).
Graphic: Grief, Death of parent
Moderate: Medical content
Minor: Bullying, Suicide attempt
