Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn

lighthearted relaxing slow-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? Character
  • Strong character development? It's complicated
  • Loveable characters? No
  • Diverse cast of characters? No
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes

2.75

FMC (Penelope): 3 (lord this woman was a bore. For a woman with a decade-long secret life she had nothing to say. What was her personality beyond being a dreaded spinster? Where was the supposed biting wit? The clever humor?)
MMC (Colin): 2.75 (wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. Typically man unable to handle a cut to his ego, especially from a woman. His only traits are smiling and eating a lot)
💕: 3 (I mean I guess they loved each other? It’s not really clear why, but I do think they’ll last probably?)
Plot: 2 (could easily put me to sleep. I wanted MORE - who was Lady Whistletown? What did she mean to Pen? Needed more angst, more hijinks, more everything. All they do is talk - and not about interesting things)
🌶️: 2 (carriage scene? More like snooze fest)
Writing: 3 (surprisingly average…repetitive scenes and the dreaded “he released a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding”)
