My feelings on this book pretty much matched how I felt reading the first four books in the After series. I was annoyed with Hardin and Tessa for the first 85% and then they finally grew up, we saw character development, and they actually turned into likeable people the last 15%. Hardin is immature, overly-dramatic, and an all-around asshole, while Tessa is frustratingly naïve and allows herself to be pushed around and taken advantage of.

I did like that the primary viewpoint of the story was Hardin's but I felt that the beginning and ending POV's from Natalie, Molly, Steph, and Zed, Landon and Vance were really unnecessary. I didn't care about the end ones, and I didn't understand the point of the beginning ones. Was I supposed to feel sympathy for Molly and Steph after getting some background information on them? If so, it didn't work for me.

This story is definitely a supplement to the After series. If you intend to read all the books, make sure this one is the last one, otherwise you're in for some major spoilers that probably won't make a lot of sense. If you're reading this book in hopes of more steamy sex scenes between Hardin and Tessa, you've come to the right place. They are numerous and quite detailed, as in the other books.

Characters get a 4 out of 10 because I really just didn't like them, and the plot gets a 7 out of 10. I can appreciate that Todd was able to turn a simple story of a bad boy falling for a virginal college freshman into a huge series, with spinoffs. Kudos to her. Steam factor gets a 10 out 10. Overall I give this a C-.
