Brandon's Very Merry Haunted Christmas
by A.J. Sherwood
3/5
Didn't have the same easy charm that the Jon/Donovan books did. Brandon came across as a little too perfect, kind of blah. He and Mack fell together a little too quickly and easily. Nice for an intro to the series (ends with a HFN), but as a stand-alone it could have used a bit more conflict and stronger chemistry. I think Donovan will remain my favorite Havili brother, just because he's a bit more complex. But I'll see if my opinion of Brandon changes with his first full-length story.
Tags: I/M: Brandon is Polynesian (Tongan)-American and Mack is white with a Louisiana Creole French background; Paranormal: Mack is a medium and is tasked with getting a ghost out of a snow globe; Location: Eureka Springs, Arkansas; LE: both are new recruits to the psychic department of the FBI; Holiday: did not tag Christmas because the holiday part is very brief and the bulk of the story occurs after Christmas and before NYE
