Sometimes I like to think I’m fit with a steel heart and an i-hate-people attitude, but then I read books like this and realize I’m actually just a huge fucking sap.
I have never wanted a happily ever after so intensely. My heart was about to pound through my chest through about 90% of this book.
So. Many. Emotions.
I don’t even know how to feel about this, let alone review it. I literally devoured this. Up-until-4AM-keeping-my-eyes-peeled-open type of devoured because I desperately needed to see this HEA.
Is this m/m smut? I mean yes, obviously, but it’s also SO MUCH more than that. It’s this beautiful, epic love story between best friends. It was both heartbreaking and triumphant at times, and I can still feel my heart soaring 5 hours after reading the last page.
The writing was so well done, and the characters so well developed that it was so easy to fall into the story. I could literally feel the pain and heartache coming off the pages. (The laughter too)
Griffin is the most tender, kind-hearted, beautiful, and sweet soul. All I wanted was for him to be happy, damn it. I'm not sure if Dante deserves this precious ginger.
I disliked Dante for about 75% of this book. He was selfish, arrogant, cocky, ignorant, and fucking blind if we're being honest. But then things change. And you see him change. You watch the walls come down, and suddenly I felt myself caring for him and cheering him on too.
Damn it, why do the assholes always have to be so redeemable?
I really loved this. There were some parts with the plot I wasn’t a fan of. Certain aspects lacked explanation and conclusion. Also, the fact that it took so long for them to come to their senses almost had me tearing my hair out. If either of them could admit their feelings, this book would have been about 50 pages. But no (fucking men). This is why I ended up giving it 4 instead of 5 stars, but I think the overall story and writing far outweigh any negatives.
This was my first m/m romance written by a guy and it was both different and refreshing. There were some hilarious phrases and terminology that had me cracking up.
This might be my favorite sentence ever: “He yawned and scratched his furry balls - scritch-scritch - before hauling his junk out to piss."
😂 I laughed at this for like 10 minutes, I think I might be 5 years old
