much like my opinions on book 1, this very much reads like fanfiction. to me, that wasn't immediately a bad thing. it got bad around halfway through though. the writing felt uninspired and flat, read more like a horny teenager's creative writing project than anything else.
As for the story, i enjoyed both couples a lot and was really happy to see more of giovanni and cellina. considering they only played minor roles in book 1, I wasn't expecting to read so much about them! a pleasant surprise that had me quite excited, curious and feeling for them.
apart from that, the plot falls a little flat, not much is done with the main plot points and problems and issues are taken care of so fast it left me wondering why they were even issues to begin with beforehand. the author also doesn't go into depth about literally almost anything, which was disappointing to me.
also, much like in book 1, the toe-curlingly cringeworthy petnames, romaji Japanese interactions and more italian/portugese/Spanish left untranslated are all included here again too, to my frustration. it took me out of the moment completely. not for me.
I did really like the expansion on vampirism, more eye and attention for purebreds and the societal commentary surrounding them was interesting enough for me.
overall, i liked this, but it left me feeling a little disappointed.
