So Hormonal: A Collection of Essays on Hormones by Zachary Dickson, Emily Horgan

Unrated as non-fic.

This collection really got me. I purchased this in 2023 directly from the publishers site, along with another highly anticipated read, then it joined my shelves and melted into the TBR (as so many do).

In 2024 though, I've challenged myself to read more non-fiction, to read about what I find genuinely interesting and relatable. This definitely fits that bill.

The editors note starts the book on the right foot and sets the tone for the rest of the collection. The authors within this collection explore difficult experiences and taboos seemingly with ease, the essays are well structured, well researched and demonstrate the difficulties of every day life that every body suffers through. The stigmas are tackled bravely, authors strip themselves down to highlight the injustices and monstrosity within the modern healthcare system, and societal perceptions.

There are gems of absolute wisdom throughout, my personal favourite being "In a world of Doubtfires, be a Maria." - Donna Alexander.

I whole heartedly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about hormones, who has ever had an experience with hormones, or if you just want to learn about how hormones impact every day life.
