Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine

4.0

I was born the year the movie with Anne Hathaway came out and remember really liking it growing up. I finally decided to read the book and I definitely don’t regret it. For a children’s book, it definitely had some adult themes. I was (a little) put off about the fact that this was a romance revolving around a fifteen year old girl. There were just some uncomfortable bits, especially one part where her father introduces a (very old) man as a suitor for said fifteen year old daughter and creepiness ensues. Mandy’s character also aggravated me beyond words.

Other than that, I really enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to treating myself to a rewatch of the movie tomorrow :)
