In the Mood Fur Love by Eve Langlais

4.0

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. In the Mood Fur Love is an anthology comprised of three stories by three of paranormal romance's biggest names, Eve Langlais, Milly Taiden and Kate Baxter. I find it hard reviewing anthologies which is why I don't read a lot of them, but this one got me with the participating authors. As I have found with a lot of anthologies, I am missing information in the histories of some of the characters in each story. I'm guessing they are part of a bigger series that I haven't gotten to yet. I do recognize some characters from the previous anthology I read by these three, so I wasn't totally lost. However, I did feel like I was missing some back story and haven't been able to find where I need to go back and read.

Bearing His Touch by Eve Langlais ~ 4*

I really enjoyed the bears. If this is a series somewhere I need to find it. I know some of you are big Eve Langlais fans so I'm sure you'll be able to tell me which series these stories are coming from.

Becka is trapped with a very evil man but someone else is out to get her too. When she escapes and runs into Stavros, she decides to go with him despite her fear that she will be getting him killed. Stavros knows he has met his mate and will do anything to protect her. As will his family.

I love Stavros's family. The woman are so in charge and they keep those men in line! I really enjoyed this story and loved the way it ended. Stavros had a hard time believing something was real and he was proved wrong. I honestly don't know how he didn't realize this existed before and thought he would be a little more open minded. But I guess when you're a bear, you want to believe you are the kings of the supernatural world! The ending was very happy for Becka in more ways than one and I was very happy for her after all that she endured.

Fake Mated to the Wolf by Milly Taiden ~ 4*

Shawna Goode is struggling to save her family and working for Mates Fur Hire is helping her do the best she can. Too bad she is working for an asshole. She needs the money to try and keep her family safe and get them out of the situation she is in.

Hawke has met his mate, but has somehow managed to lose her. He's been trying for months to get close to her but has been failing at every turn. He's frustrated. Then he finds out what has happened to her and he decides to plant himself in the middle of her situation to save her. Honestly, I thought at first that it was a typo in the book when I found out his name was Hawke Hawke. Maybe he should just go by one name like Cher or Madonna because having two of the same name was kind of weird. But he was totally an awesome character who did so much for his employees and to please his mate. Even though I think I would have been a little more freaked out than Shawna being caught in such a personal act. Milly does not hide from the true facts of life like fun play toys and body image and I absolutely adore her for that.

This is another book I really need to find out the beginnings of the series for because I really love these characters. Are they only in these anthologies or do they have individual books? I found Thanks Fur Last Night but I don't think there is a story in this world in it. I will have to get it to see.

The Witch, The Werewolf and The Waitress by Kate Baxter 3*

Colin is getting a little antsy in the small town his alpha has moved them to and really wants to get a job with the local supernatural enforcement agency. Without telling his alpha. On his way to secure his new post, he encounters his mate. Then his world all seems to go on hold as he helps his mate overcome a spell that has been on her for centuries. For some reason, Colin did not come across to me as a alpha character. I know he is not an alpha, but he didn't seem as assertive as I was hoping. He is more laid back, despite his demands with his alpha. Although it worked, he also kept his mate needs in check when it came to Ellie instead of the male demanding his mate type of thing.

Ellie has been trapped in Lowman for centuries. Never aging and stuck within a 30 mile radius. She is disheartened and depressed about her situation. A spell was cast on her centuries ago and as much as she has tried, there has been no way to reverse it. Then she meets a real, live werewolf who claims to be her mate and that he is going to fix her problem so they can be together.

The answer to Ellie's problem seemed to come pretty easily once other sups are involved. The adventure builds and builds like a video game until they get to the last "boss". That boss was a surprising foe. I was disappointed that we didn't see more of what happens to Ellie afterward. The story takes you to the couple once they are back at Colin's place. But it doesn't confront the issue of him wanting to turn her into a werewolf or what is going to happen to Ellie's aging etc. since the boss was defeated. I just wasn't crazy about the abruptness of the ending.

I really enjoy these short stories by a few of my favorite authors. I'm wanting to know more about the characters so I hope I find more books out there that are related. This review was originally posted on Rantings of a Reading Addict
